As mental health month comes to an end, what does it mean for your organisation, what does it mean for you?

It’s all very well focusing on mental health for a while but when the noise dies down what happens next?

So many people feel abandoned when it comes to talking about depression and anxiety. For so many being stressed and overwhelmed is unacceptable. How can we, how can you, ensure that there is the correct support out there for those facing challenges?

Being vulnerable is not a sign of weakness, but a strength. Only as we bravely face ourselves can we make the changes necessary.

In my work as an executive coach I have found that many clients talk about deep rooted feelings. Feelings that they had no idea were impacting their day to day lives. Taking a brave look builds resilience and uncovers a new way forward.

So how do we ensure the door stays open?

In the corporate sector there are many who are paving the way of excellence. Still far too many leave staff floundering with no way out. How can we develop new methods to provide psychological safety?

Be human.

  • One way we can keep the conversation going is to be congruent ourselves.
  • Share your own challenges and be fearless in asking questions.
  • Look people in the eye and listen.
  • Take some time to look. Sometimes it is the loudest person who is struggling.
  • Lay aside preconceived ideas and connect.
